All the work I did during my degrees weren’t for nothing! Here’s a overview at the highlights.
Urban Planning
As my BA is in Urban Planning, here are some of the highlights from that endeavour.
Housing
Canada’s Affordable housing problem is reaching new limits. As housing takes a long time for effects to be felt (as building housing takes time) our Policy proposal looks at how we can make the existing housing stock more affordable with tax incentives, such as through tax rebates for landlords providing affordable rental rates, a rental registry, a tax on corporate ownership and more.
Gentrification is often tied to an identity and demographic change of a neighbourhood. This essay explores how cities drive these changes intentionally and how identity based displacement occurs.
Community Development
Hochelaga-Maisonneuve is a neighbourhood in the east end of Montreal. Characterized by its high industrial land use and home of the Olympic Stadium and Botanical Gardens, it remains ripe with potential to de-fragment the neighbourhood from the rest of the city.

Our initial groups were tasked with a neighbourhood characterization report and historical background of each section.
Our group was tasked with redeveloping an area in Montreal’s Chinatown. Our proposal includes many culturally relevant aspects to improve the cohesion of the neighbourhood and boost pedestrian activity to bring life back to an underutilized space. After several charettes and extensive community engagement this was our proposal for Rue De la Gauchetière Ouest!

Pedestrianization of the Montreal’s Old Port is of vital importance. Not only is it a historical district that was configured before the existence of cars, but also one of the largest tourist areas in Canada. The environmental impact of cars cannot be understated in such a delicate area and our team analyzed the best way to reduce the presence of cars for a healthier neighbourhood.

Environment
As a part of my internship with OpenWaste.AI, I presented at the International Conference on Sustainable Development about the development challenges for AI training a waste classification system.
